1. Our commitment
Economics1.com (Hereafter referred to as ECO1) is committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for every student.
We take the safeguarding of children and young people seriously and will act appropriately whenever a safeguarding concern is raised.
This policy applies to all ECO1 tutors, staff and anyone working on behalf of ECO1
2. Safeguarding Lead
Economics1.com will appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) responsible for safeguarding concerns.
All safeguarding concerns should be reported to the DSL as soon as possible.

3. Our responsibilities
Economics1.com will:
Take reasonable steps to ensure tutors are suitable to work with students.
Carry out appropriate identity, reference and safeguarding checks.
Provide safeguarding guidance and training to tutors.
Maintain clear professional boundaries between tutors and students.
Provide safe online teaching environments.
Take safeguarding concerns seriously and respond appropriately.
Keep safeguarding records confidential and secure.
Cooperate with parents, guardians and relevant authorities where appropriate.
4. If a student raises a concern
If a student tells a tutor about abuse, neglect, exploitation or another safeguarding concern, the tutor should:
Listen calmly.
Take the student seriously.
Not investigate the allegation.
Not promise confidentiality.
Record the information accurately.
Report the concern to the DSL immediately.
If there is an immediate risk of serious harm, ECO1 may contact the relevant emergency or safeguarding authority.
5. Professional boundaries
Tutors must:
Keep communication professional.
Use Economics1.com-approved communication channels.
Never request inappropriate personal information or images.
Never meet students privately outside approved ECO1 activities.
Never establish inappropriate personal or romantic relationships with students.
Never communicate with students through personal social-media accounts.
6. Online learning
Economics1.com will take reasonable steps to make online teaching safe, including appropriate platform controls, passwords and access controls.
Students should not be asked to move from an ECO1 teaching environment to a tutor's personal communication channel.
7. Review
This policy will be reviewed regularly and whenever there is a significant change to ECO1's services, technology or safeguarding requirements.

Access to sensitive information is restricted to people who need it.
6. How long we keep information
